“SEDIMENT WORKSHOP 2020 With Focus on "Sediment Management in RoR Hydropower Projects" 26 November - 2 December 2020 Kathmandu, Nepal
The International workshop jointly organised by Hydro Lab, Nepal and International Centre for Hydropower (ICH), Norway from 26 November – 02 December 2020 conducted online was successfully completed. The opening session, chaired by Mr. Shiva Kumar Sharma, Chairman Hydro Lab, was started with the welcome speech from Dr. Meg B. Bishwakarma, General Manager, Hydro Lab. The programme was addressed by Ms. Line Amlund Hagen, Managing Director & Mr. Tom Solberg, Project Director, ICH and Mr. Jan Erik Studsrod, Counsellor, Royal Norwegian Embassy. Finally, the opening session was completed with the key note lecture from Prof. Dr. Haakon Støle, Sediment Systems, Norway.

Sediment Management in RoR Hydropower Projects, 2020


An international workshop with the theme Sediment Management in RoR Hydropower Projects’ conducted online on 26 November - 02 December 2020 was successfully completed. The workshop was jointly organized by Hydro Lab, Nepal and International Centre for Hydropower (ICH), Norway. It was the ninth workshop in a series jointly organized by Hydro Lab and ICH since 2001.


The workshop was attended by 16 participants from 3 different countries namely Nepal, Pakistan and Peru. The participants were professionals from different governmental and private organizations including developers, consultants, academicians and researchers.


The weeklong workshop began with lectures conducted by the experienced professionals from academic institutions, hydropower developers, research organizations and consulting firms, who shared their experiences on various topics related to the main theme of the workshop. The participants were also given an opportunity to present and share the knowledge gained from the workshop during group presentations on the last day of the programme.
